Al Firdaus Ensemble En Chicago (Rockefeller Memorial Chapel - University of Chicago) : Mawlid, An Evening with the Prophet, 18 January 2014

We were invited by the University of Chicago to perform in a celebration of the life of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) during the Mawlid festival.

The celebration consisted of talks by Ustadha Zainab Ansari, Sheikh Jihad Brown and the concert of Al Firdaus Ensemble and was presented by Ustadh Tahir U Abdullah, the Assistant Director of Spiritual Life at U of C. It took place at the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel which is now a multi faith space. We were joined by guest artist Chicago resident Palestinian Oud player and percussionist Ronnie Malley. It was instead of a "white Christmas", a "white mawlid" and we had to trudge threw the snow to get to the venue. However the warm reception made up for the cold weather outside.
